The Journey of our Daily Lives – The Circle of Righteousness – Section 2 – Part 4

Parable: The Rain : A Blessing from Allah (swt)

And among His Signs, He shows you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope, and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise. 030:024

It is Allah Who sends the Winds, and they raise the Clouds: then does He spread them in the sky as He wills, and break them into fragments, until thou seest rain-drops issue from the midst thereof: then when He has made them reach such of his servants as He wills behold, they do rejoice!- 030:048

Rain comes down in drops and settles into the earth. Through the beautiful rain which is Allah’s (swt) artistry, the womb of the earth is made fruitful to us, all kinds of useful grains, vegetables and fruits are produced for us and animals to enjoy, also the earth becomes beautiful with all kinds of colours, trees, flowers decked out in its beauty.

Some people who have beautiful farms and gardens etc. take all the credit themselves; thinking they have all the powers, they never even remember to thank Allah (swt) for the kind favours He has bestowed on them. Due to their pride and ungratefulness, despite of precaution they make take, everything they worked for so hard is destroyed. They lose all of their crops just when it was close to the time to harvest.

The proud and ungrateful people ask themselves.

  1. Where is the beautiful field I had yesterday?
  2. All that’s left is ruin and misery. How could this happen to us?
  3. Everything we had is destroyed.
  4. How can we recover from this great loss?
  5. How could Allah (swt) be so cruel?

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls. 030:009

The lesson here is: Ungratefulness causes man to suffer. Pride caused the fall of Shaitaan (devil) and the same will happen to those who follow his footsteps. All the great technologies which man prides himself and depends so much on, are really the favours which Allah (swt) has given to him by His grace, and can disappear in the twinkle of an eye. Allah (swt) is the greatest, and His warnings are for all, rich or poor, black, brown or white. He is never cruel or unjust to any of His creations. It is our own actions, whether good or bad that brings us the consequences of either good or bad.

Mischief has appeared on land and sea because of (the meed) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds: in order that they may turn back (from Evil). 030:041

Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not. 030:059

So patiently persevere: for verily the promise of Allah is true: nor let those shake thy firmness, who have (themselves) no certainty of faith. 030:060
