A very good question, because lots of people are confused about this word ‘Muslim’, they are mixing up this word Muslim with race, nation and color of skin; white, brown and black, whereas this word Muslim have no such thing to do with any of those things. Muslim means submission to only one God, so anyone who submits himself or herself to Allah (swt) Almighty, he or she is a Muslim; as the Holy Qur’an states:
Nay,-whoever submits His whole self to Allah and is a doer of good,- He will get his reward with his Lord; on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. 2:112.
To believe in One God and to believe in all His Prophets and in all of His Angels, and in His Books, the Holy Qur’an, The Torah, the Zabur, they are the true Muslims, race, nations, color of skin and names are not Muslim. One may carry the name as a Muslim but that doesn’t even make him a Muslim. A true Muslim are those who recognized and understand the one and only reality, that is God Almighty, and further shape their probationary life firmly and steadfastly on the principles of that truth and reality, which is God Almighty and His commandments. The best of man is one of true love and faith for Allah (swt), and who invites others to share in his faith, whose life is pure and law of life is the will of God Almighty, dispute not but live in peace, love and unity
