The Holy Qur’an states:
Thus have We sent by inspiration to thee an Arabic Qur’an: that thou mayest warn the Mother of Cities and all around her,- and warn (them) of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt: (when) some will be in the Garden, and some in the Blazing Fire.42:7
Allah (swt). Religion is the same in essence, whether given to Prophet Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (owbp). The source of unity is the revelation from Allah (swt) In Islam it is establish as an institution and does not remain merely a vague suggestion.
The same religion has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah – the which We have sent by inspiration to thee – and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that ye should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which thou callest them. Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).42:13. See also 42:11, 12 and 14.
Faith, duty or religion is not a matter to dispute about, the formation of sects is against the very principles of religion and unity. The most important matter is we should strive for is steadfastness in duty and faith and also unity amongst mankind.
As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah. He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.6:159.
Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him.7:3.
O ye Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you, in the same manner as He got your parents out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment, to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith.7:27.
Our devotion should be sincere in the sight of Allah (swt) and as such He will give us the will to act with love and unity among our brotherhood in Islam. About dividing religion (6:159) we are fully responsible for our actions: we cannot transfer the consequences to someone else, nor can anyone vicariously atone for our sins. If people have honest doubt or differences about important questions of religion, they should not start futile disputes so as to break up the unity of their religion (or Islam). Our duty as Muslims is to maintain unity and discipline, mere disputation are futile.
See the Holy Qur’an 29:45-49.
In order to achieve our purpose as true standard bearers for Allah (swt) we shall have to find true common grounds of belief. As stated in the Holy Qur’an in the following verses:
Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration to thee, and establish regular Prayer: for Prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds; and remembrance of Allah is the greatest (thing in life) without doubt. And Allah knows the (deeds) that ye do.29:45.
And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say, “We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam).29:46.
And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein, as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs.29:47.
And thou waste not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor art thou (able) to transcribe it with thy right hand: In that case, indeed, would the talkers of vanities have doubted.29:48.
Nay, here are Signs self-evident in the hearts of those endowed with knowledge: and none but the unjust reject Our Signs. 29:49.
As Muslims we must always act with justice, if our home condition do not allow us according to the faith that is in us, we must be prepared to suffer ostracism or even exile. The Holy Qur’an states:
Say: “O ye my servants who believe! Fear your Lord, good is (the reward) for those who do good in this world. Spacious is Allah’s earth! those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure!” 39:10.
Say: “Verily, I am commanded to serve Allah with sincere devotion.39:11.
“And I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah in Islam.” 39:12.
Say: “I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the Penalty of a Mighty Day.”39:13
Say: “It is Allah I serve, with my sincere (and exclusive) devotion:39:14
“Serve ye what ye will besides him.” Say: “Truly, those in loss are those who lose their own souls and their People on the Day of Judgment: Ah! that is indeed the (real and) evident Loss! 39:15
