The easiest examples are:
(1) If one does not get any kind of happy feelings when he goes to pray, he must think of a person whom he looks up to as his hero in life’s conduct, and if he has to go and meet that person, what kind of clothes he would put on to suit the purpose; I am sure he would acknowledge a very anxious and happy feelings. So this is how Zeal would enter into his heart for Allah (swt), if he dress the way he is commanded by the Holy Qur’an which states:
O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: But waste not by excess, for Allah loveth not the wasters. 7:31
Not only clothes adds Zeal (or grace) to the wearer, but toilet and cleanliness, also attention to unwanted hair on the body and other small personal details which no self respecting person ought to neglect when going solemnly even before a great dignitary, if only out of respect for the dignity of the occasion. How much more important it is to attend to these details when we solemnly apply our minds to the presence of Allah (swt).
(2) If example one doesn’t work, then try ponder upon this example; If all the lights goes off in your house at night, just when you are about to eat your supper, and you are so hungry (after a long day at work) imagine what kind of frustration you will be in. You would rush to get a candle and if you cannot find one, you would get more frustrated and probably shout for someone to get you a light, so that you can eat and feel satisfied. Well without Zeal there is darkness and blessing comes as spiritual food the way food help us with our health and strength, it is the same with spiritual food, it helps to strengthen our Zeal, one love for Allah (swt), one faith in Him which gives one good energy to pray with love and sincerity, to present one whole selves, heart and soul to Allah (swt), even though one is not perfect, Allah’s (swt) light will reach one in every way, one asked Him to help one and bless one with His light of Zeal and faith in Him.
(3) Imagine the feelings of joy; one finding something valuable like a diamond ring, which can make one very rich instantly, there is no way one can able to express that joyful feelings that they experience in finding that ring, and the great love they will have for that ring as well. This great imagination for sure Insha Allah will strengthen one in faith. If one realize that prayers or the Zikr of Allah (swt) is not just an act of worship, but it helps with prosperity and success, in one’s spiritual and material life conduct, they will for sure open their hearts to the love of Allah (swt) to enter into it (their hearts).
(4) Every door needs a key to open it, and the key to open the door to one’s heart and to let the love and sincerity enter into it for Allah (swt) and for His Prophet (owbp) is purity, the heart must be clear from the Shaitan stain which is jealousy, hate, envy and spitefulness, there is no way the love for Allah (swt) can enter into one’s heart which feeds with any one out of this
(4) evil foods, these four formulas is poison and it contaminates the heart into a sick and disease heart which Allah (swt) turns His back on.
(5) If a tree is planted on weak soil, it will not grow, it will die. Let’s take for example a pregnant woman, if she is clear from smoking and drinking alcohol, then for sure the growth of the baby would be well protected, like a king in a castle. But if she is a mother taking all the above stuff, what will be the consequences of her health and the child’s health. Pure motive can help one to get closer and closer to Allah (swt) and to achieve salvation.
