The Holy Qur’an states:
Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says, “I am of those who bow in Islam” 41:33.
“And be moderate in thy pace, and lower thy voice; for the harshest of sounds without doubt is the braying of the ass.31:19.
And We have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents: in travail upon travail did his mother bear him, and in years twain was his weaning: (hear the command), “Show gratitude to Me and to thy parents: to Me is (thy final) Goal.31:14.
In all things (our actions) we must be moderate; do not go the pace and do not be stationary or slow, do not be talkative and do not be silent, do not be loud and do be timid or half hearted, do not be too confident and do not be cowed down. If you patience, it is to give you constancy and determination that you may bravely carry on the struggle of life. If you have humility it is to save you from unseemly swagger, not to curb your right spirit and your reasoned determination.
Better in speech means someone who preaches that a person must be very humble in his actions and especially in his speech, since humbleness is in one’s (actions)speech is more worthy of being listened to, that his word reach the highest mark of human speech is evidence by three facts:
- That he calls all to the truth of God Almighty showing that his thoughts are not centered on himself.
- Every deed of his or her must be righteous and pure, showing that there is no fraud or divergence between his preaching and his conduct.
- He or she completely associates himself with only the will and guidance of Allah (swt), showing that he is the full embodiment of Islam. This is one who is following the Holy Prophet Muhammad (owbp) footsteps and should carry out his mission and his conduct. Insha Allah this way of peace and humbleness would draw the people more to listen. Obey and accept Islam, because as the true servant of Allah (swt) speaking to the people, in his or her gentle way, Allah (swt)would help him to win over their hearts to accept Islam, because He would send down the criterion (which is to judge between right and wrong to them. The Holy Qur’an states:
O ye who believe! if ye fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion (to judge between right and wrong), remove from you (all) evil (that may afflict) you, and forgive you: for Allah is the Lord of grace unbounded.8:29.
This verse is also a fine description of our Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (owbp). The Holy Qur’an states:
Kind words and the covering of faults are better than charity followed by injury. Allah is free of all wants and He is Most-Forbearing. 2:263
